This guide was updated on 29 June 2025, to replace Lutris with Steam when a patch from Blizzard started giving issues with Lutris.

To install Battle.net in Steam

  1. Download Battle.net
  2. Add a Game > Add a Non-Steam Game, Browse to your downloaded Battle.net-Setup.exe
  3. Under Properties of Battle.net-Setup.exe > Compatibility, check the box Force the use of specific Steam Play compatibility tool
  4. Choose Proton 10.0-1 (beta)
  5. Click Play

Installing Addons

  1. Browse to your Storage Drive for the game, this will usually be the default Steam Library unless you have installed the game on an expansion drive
  2. Then browse to SteamLibrary > steamapps > compatdata > 3847980012 > pfx > drive_c > Program Files (x86) > World of Warcraft >
  3. Depending on the versions of the game you have you will see folders such as _classic, _classic_era_ or _retail_
  4. Choose the appropriate folder, and continue to navigate to Interface/Addons, extract your mod folder(s) into here
