  • MATE 1.26.0 desktop
  • Nvidia driver v535
  • Steam client version: 1733265492, Build Date: 2nd Dec 2025
  • Dragon Age II from Steam

Instructions to get Dragon Age II running through Steam

  1. In the Steam library, click on Dragon Age II
  2. Click the cog, Manage > Properties > Compatibility > Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool > Proton 9.0-4
  3. Launch the game
  4. If nothing happens, launch the game again
  5. Log into the EA Launcher and download DLC.
  6. Note: I was unable to get the All Items Pack II to download successfully
  7. In the EA Launcher, Settings > Turn off overlay
  8. Exit the EA Launcher from the toolbar
  9. Restart the EA Launcher
  10. Enter the game

To get Nexus Mods working

  1. Download your chosen mods from Nexus Mods
  2. Open up File Browser on your Linux system
  3. Click View > and choose Show Hidden Files
  4. Navigate to where Dragon Age II is installed, which is likely to be in home/.steam/steam and you should see a folder named steamapps
  5. If you have some games stored on a different drive or storage area, navigate to that area, click SteamLibrary and then steamapps folder
  6. Once you have located the steamapps folder you want to navigate to the following path: steamapps/compatdata/1238040/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/Bioware/DragonAge 2/packages/core/override
  7. Unzip your downloaded mods into this folder
  8. Restart the game
